Great Showing by Ob/Gyn at ACOG

Did you know the University of Hawai`i medical school had a great showing at the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) annual meeting this year? Five faculty members, two MD fellows, five MD residents, a medical student and loads of alumni from the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) were there in Chicago to see it happen.

Program Participants

Dr. Tricia Wright taught in an 060 post-graduate course (Buphrenorphine, An Office-based Treatment for Opiod Abuse) and ran two “Lunch with the Experts” sessions (“Management of Prescription Opiate Abuse During Pregnancy” and “SBIRT Model: Screening for and Managing Substance Use in Practice”). Meanwhile, the Family Planning Division represented by Dr. Bliss Kaneshiro, Dr. Jennifer Salcedo, Dr. Reni Soon and Dr. Katherine Whitehouse, ran an interactive 030 course entitled “Contraceptive Controversies and Conundrums.” Dr. Tod Aeby was on the faculty of the “Stepping Up To Residency” course and fulfilled his duties for the ACOG Committee on Industrial Exhibits.
