On June 5, 2017, it was announced that the University of Hawai‘i Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women’s Health, along with the University Health Partners of Hawai‘i, has donated to the Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children. This gift will be used to advance women’s health care and support Women’s Services at KMCWC.

Marth Smith, CEO of Kapi‘olani Medical Center from Women & Children, states, “This is a very meaningful donation to our medical center and the many Ob/Gyn physician and residents who are committed to the care of Kapi‘olani. We are honored to be a teaching facility for UH JABSOM. The partnership we have with UH is reflected in the amazing work these doctors provide to the women who receive our services. This donation is an investment in the medical center, our doctors, and our patients as well as their families.”

According to Dr. Ivica Zalud, Professor and Chair of the UH Department of Ob/Gyn, “Our John A. Burns school of Medicine faculty are grateful and proud of Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children. This is where we and our residents feel at home. This is the place where we advance women’s health and groom the next generations of physicians to care and advocate for women. This is the place where we push ourselves in pursuit of discovery.” Dr. Zalud further expresses, “We are truly blessed to have such a great home here at Kapi‘olani.”
